One of the Spanish economy biggest issues is the making of employ vacancy and even more to generate qualified workplaces. This Bachelor Thesis focuses on the creation of a model that allows us to estimate how many permanent and transitory employment wind energy is able to create in Spain over the coming decades. On the one hand, it is first quantified how much wind power capacity (MW) is capable of generating a million dollars of investment. Secondly, how many jobs is that same million dollars capable of generating in Spain. Next, we will be able to quantify temporary and permanent jobs per installed wind capacity. On the other hand, we will estimate how much wind capacity Spain requires to comply with the PNIEC in 2030 and the European Green Deal by 2050. Each of these components of the model have been obtained due to the review of a large number of academic research related to the wind and renewable sector.<br /

Monitoring rainfed alfalfa growth in semiarid agrosystems using Sentinel-2 imagery

The aim of this study was to assess the utility of Sentinel-2 images in the monitoring of the fractional vegetation cover (FVC) of rainfed alfalfa in semiarid areas such as that of Bardenas Reales in Spain. FVC was sampled in situ using 1 m2 surfaces at 172 points inside 18 alfalfa fields from late spring to early summer in 2017 and 2018. Different vegetation indices derived from a series of Sentinel-2 images were calculated and were then correlated with the FVC measurements at the pixel and parcel levels using different types of equations. The results indicate that the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) and FVC were highly correlated at the parcel level (R 2 = 0.712), where as the correlation at the pixel level remained moderate across each of the years studied. Based on the findings, another 29 alfalfa plots (28 rainfed; 1 irrigated) were remotely monitored operationally for 3 years (2017–2019), revealing that location and weather conditions were strong determinants of alfalfa growth in Bardenas Reales. The results of this study indicate that Sentinel-2 imagery is a suitable tool for monitoring rainfed alfalfa pastures in semiarid areas, thus increasing the potential success of pasture management.Andres Echeverria was supported by a predoctoral fellowship from the Government of Navarra. The aim of this study is to evaluate the functional outcomes and quality of life (QoL) in oncologic patients with intraoral defects reconstructed with the buccinator myomucosal flap. A retrospective study was performed involving 39 patients with intraoral soft-tissue defects, reconstructed with a buccinator myomucosal flap during a six-year period. Patients completed the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer questionnaires, the standard questionnaire (QLQ-C30) and the head-and-neck specific module (QLQ-H&N35). Thirty-nine patients with a mean age of 61.23 ± 15.80 years were included in the study. Thirty-three patients were diagnosed with an oncological condition (84.61%). Six patients (15.38%) developed orosinusal communication and underwent extensive debridement. The median global-health-status score was 79.27 and emotional performance was the lowest scoring, with a mean score of 76.93. As for the symptom items, the most outstanding were dental problems (33.33), oral opening (31.62) and dry mouth (37.61), followed by sticky saliva (24.79), problems with social eating (21.15) and pain (19.87). The most significant symptoms were radiotherapy-related adverse effects such as pain, fatigue, dental problems and dry mouth. Patients reconstructed with the buccinator myomucosal flap develop a good quality of life for all types of activities, and a correct function and aesthetics. Postoperative radiotherapy is associated with a poorer quality of life, and can lead to impairment of several symptoms such as swallowing, oral opening and dry mouth.Depto. de Salud Pública y Materno - InfantilFac. de MedicinaTRUEpu

Advances in technological development is not always equivalent to improved telecommunication access. Objective:  To know the actual access and use of the information and communication technologies (ICT) amongst medical students of the Medical Sciences Faculty (FCM) of the National Autonomous University of Honduras (UNAH), because these represent close to the total amount of students in this area in the country. Materials and Methods: A descriptive transversal study was performed during the first semester of 2017. A 434 student sample was achieved to whom a questionnaire was applied that measured the access and use of ICT amongst them. Results and Conclusions: The study shows that 62.21% of students had 1 land line phone service, 95.39% had mobile phone service, 88.25% had home internet and 17.28% had access through some academic unit inside the faculty. The services consumed by the surveyed have restricted benefits and high costs because of a market limited in offers which results from public policies created to strengthen private services rather than to orient towards diminishing the digital divide through incrementing offer and reducing costs or strengthening state services.
